TRANSFORMATION

Frank Schiro spent over 40 years of his life in the educational trenches and inspired his students to live transformed lives. Even in his retirement, Frank still helps kids. Recently, one of his students had coffee with me and shared how Mr. Schiro had taught his students to live empowered lives.

In Frank’s book, Deep Roots, he writes, “When you live a transformed life you’re wounds don’t hurt you; rather they become your teachers instead of your defeats.” He exhorts his readers: “List one thing that you will let go and never associate with guilt or shame ever again. Instead, you will see it for what it is—a door that led you to a new you.”

To be transformed means that there has been a change in condition, nature and/or character. Educators, we are in the transformation business— in our own lives and in the lives of others.
