Student Connectedness

POWER OF THE SPOKEN WORD

Former college and NFL football coach, and current NFL analyst and commentator, Jimmy Johnson, once stated, “Treat a person as he is and he will remain as he is.  Treat him as he could be and he will become what he should be.”   Successful educators project vision, potential and future into the lives of their students to help students see beyond their current conditions and their present positions.  They do this even in the most common of conversations—day in and day out.  These educators project with positive words—words of affirmation, words of affection, words of promise and words that are rich with positive perceptions.  They know and understand that students will begin to believe what they hear for one must first hear it and perceive it before one can believe it and achieve it.
