Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, has spent millions of dollars on educational research. He has concluded that the single most important factor in making education better in America is to invest in teachers. There are 3.2 million public school teachers in America today and 1.8 million of these educators are eligible for retirement in the next 10 years. Sadly today, very few college graduates see education as an honorable career path. If a Harvard graduate was to declare their life purpose to be that of being an educator, society would question in bewildering fashion—why would they waste their Harvard education on a career in teaching?
I say, America, we need a perception change! Why wouldn’t the greatest upcoming, professional minds give their greatest talents and gifts to the greatest teen generation needing someone to believe in them, empower them and equip them for the opportunity to pursue their greatest happiness? Without a doubt, we need the greatest minds influencing the “educational field” in this country. Educators with the right heart and the right purposes believe that their calling to influence the next generation transcends their need for status, money and sophistication. Teachers are the molders, shapers and dream makers and their calling is invaluable.
